About Custom Blinds

Who is behind Custom Blinds Shutters & Awnings

Duncan Kane founded Custom Blinds Shutters & Awnings in 2010. He served his apprenticeship under Barry Keen in his twenties, so the trade experience behind the company is older than the company itself — more than 20 years of it, and decades in the window-treatment trade before the business had a name.

He still designs every Garden Route installation personally and takes the final measurements. Custom Blinds’ own installation team, with 15+ years of fitting behind it, does the fitting. Duncan measures, we manufacture to spec and our installation team fits.

He is a Somfy accredited expert, so motorisation is specified and programmed by the same person who measured the window.

Jane heads up the development team behind the shop. Her experience runs from industrial manufacturing through interiors to fashion retail, and she works behind the scenes on the parts customers actually use — the live pricing, the product data and the online guidance. Helping the customer who is buying online, without a showroom in front of them, is the part she cares about most.
