How to measure for blinds
A careful tape-measure reading is all you need. Choose how the blind will fit, measure in millimetres, and send Custom Blinds Shutters & Awnings the right dimensions.
Measure in mmWidth × dropRecess: three widths & drops
Inside the frame or over it?
A recess fit sits within the window frame. A face fix sits on the wall around the opening.
Recess fit: measure inside the window frame
Measure the inside width at the top, middle and bottom. Then measure the drop on the left, centre and right.
- Give us the smallest of the three widths.
- Give us the longest of the three drops.
Leave the deduction to us. For a recess fit, measure three widths and three drops; give us the smallest width and the longest drop. We deduct 10 mm from the width only (10 mm in total). Do not deduct anything yourself.
Face fix: measure over the opening
Measure the opening, then include the extra coverage around it in the size you give us.
- Width: +100 mm each side
- Drop: +100 mm above and below
For a face fix, add 100 mm on each side and 100 mm above and below. No deduction applies.
Before you send your measurements
- Use a steel tape. Keep it straight and read in millimetres.
- Write width × drop. Width first, then the drop.
- No recess-fit deduction yourself. We deduct 10 mm from the width only.
